Season 2, Episode 2 with Dina Alexander: “You wouldn’t treat a friend this way, would you?”

“You wouldn’t treat a friend this way, would you?”

THIS had to be the brightest gold nugget in this interview full of gold nuggets.

In this episode, I interview my dear friend Dina Alexander about:

  • Social media messages and their influence on our kids
  • Her story on how she struggled with her own body image issues
  • About our husbands’ reactions to our body image issues in the past and present
  • Her brand spankin’ new books, “Messages About Me: Sydney’s Story A Girl’s Journey To Healthy Body Image” and “Messages About Me: Wade’s Story A Boy’s Journey For Healthy Body Image”.

About Dina:

Dina Alexander is the founder and president of Educate and Empower Kids (educateempowerkids.org). She is the creator of How to Talk to Your Kids About Pornography and the 30 Days of Sex Talks and 30 Days to a Stronger Child programs. Dina received her master’s degree in recreation therapy from the University of Utah and has taught in various capacities for the past 19 years. She recently co-authored her first children’s books:

Messages About Me: Sydney’s Story  A Girl’s Journey to Healthy Body Image

and

Messages About Me: Wade’s Story  A Boy’s Quest for Healthy Body Image
She is a dedicated, whole hearted mom of three children and loves spending time with them and her amazing husband. Together, they live in Texas. Besides raising her own children, it is her life’s work to help parents, teachers and community leaders raise strong, healthy kids who use technology for good in this new digital age.
About Educate and Empower Kids:

Educate and Empower Kids  is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that provides resources to parents and educators as they guide their children in the digital age. We believe this must be intentionally done by teaching about digital citizenship, media literacy, and healthy sexuality—including education about the dangers of online pornography. We also offer the 30 Days of Sex Talks Program, the 30 Days to a Stronger Child Program, the How to Talk to Your Kids About Pornography guide, online resources, and community workshops across the country.

Recently, we have published children’s books: Messages About Me: Sydney’s Story and Messages About Me: Wade’s Story, to help parents and kids talk about healthy body image, and Noah’s New Phone to help us address positive digital citizenship.
